If you are just entering the poker scene and are not aware with any rooms, I would suggest you stick to a large well known room such as PokerStars or Full Tilt for example. Each room has its advantages over others so after a while it is really about personal taste as to which room you play in. You may find Room A has lots of fish on the limits you play, but Room B has a fantastic initial deposit. In this instance I would advise you to stick to one room instead of spreading your bankroll out too thin whilst starting out. Also many people think online poker is illegal which it is most certainly not. If you are even reading this and thinking “I’m still not to sure about this online poker thing” download a room and play a few freerolls or even a play money table, you wont risk any of your money, you don’t have to disclose any banking information and you can get a feel as to whether this game is for you. I would say well over half the players who do this carry onto play real money and do so for many years.
Poker can be played as a hobby or if you reach the right limits as a full time job. There are many online players who play for a living and can pick up a huge wage doing so. In a average game of $2/4 NL Hold’em a player can make thousands of dollars within a few hours.
