Chris "Jesus" Ferguson is an American professional poker player. Ferguson is another player that gained fame during the "Poker Boom" in America in the mid 2000s.
Ferguson was born in Los Angeles to a highly educated family. Both of his parents had doctorate degrees, and his father was a professor at UCLA. Chris always had an interest in poker and began playing the game before he was a teenager. He played IRC poker throughout college at UCLA, where he earned a degree in computer science.
After graduation, he opted not to enter the workforce and focused entirely on poker. This gamble worked out for Ferguson. In 2000, the following year after his graduation from college he won a WSOP Bracelet in a Seven Card Stud Event and also took down a $1.5 million dollar prize at the No Limit Hold’ Em Main Event Championship.
Due to his long brown hair and beard, he became nicknamed by those on the tournament circuit as Chris "Jesus" Ferguson. Chris is an expert at many forms of poker, in addition to No Limit Hold'Em, including Stud and Hi\Lo Games. Due to his background in mathematics, he is highly analytical in style and is an expert in poker game theory.
In addition to his two WSOP bracelets in 2000, Ferguson has won three other bracelets and has 64 cashes. He has not had as much success on the World Poker Tour, where he has no titles and eleven ITM finishes. At some points during his career, he has participated in over 70 tournaments per year and has played extensively online. He is one of the most accomplished tournament players in the past ten years and has over $5 million in tournament winnings.
Unfortunately, for Ferguson and the rest of the old team Full Tilt Poker, they all were put under serious scrutiny after the April, 2011 Black Friday seizures by the US Department of Justice. A matter that is still being resolved as of 2013.
